Today in Sports History

On March 14, 1967, the AFL and the NFL held the first common draft.  The two leagues went on to merge in 1970.  The first player chosen was Bubba Smith, a defensive lineman from Michigan State.

Smith went on to win a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Colts and played in two Pro Bowls...but who really cares about those accomplishments when he went on to toss cop cars around as Moses Hightower in the Police Academy series??

"Just pretend it's Fran Tarkenton on four wheels."
