Geno the Blowhard Strikes Again

Geno Auriemma, the undying blow-hard coach of the UConn(vict) women's basketball team is at it again. After not satisfying his ego with a sell-out home crowd, Geno turned his ire toward the UConn fans last night.

I love this for two reasons:

(1) I hate Geno and I hate UConn almost as much so I get giddy when there is Husky on Husky crime. Only thing better this season for me was Hank Steinbrenner calling out Jeter for worrying about building his mansion instead of winning championships. Great stuff.

(2) It is continually hilarious to me that Geno doesn't get it. He truly believes that people didn't show up to the games because he has somehow spoiled the fans with his awesomeness and made the program too successful. I hate to break it to you but the reason people didn't show up is because women's basketball is epically boring. Its not chauvinism, its a fact. Americans know when they are watching second-rate sporting events. If there is a better product out there, it is going to turn you off to the one in front of you. Human nature 101. It is the reason the MLS has never taken off and the XFL was stillborn.

And guess what Geno? If not for the borderline negligent support of commissioner David Stern, the WNBA would also be a thing of the past. We would be running the "We Got Next" promos on this blog and laughing at them. So just be happy you have a job and if you want more people to come to games that you coach then sack up and go coach men in the ACC.
