Today in Sports History

On March 22, 1967 Muhammad Ali was stripped of his heavyweight title for refusing to be inducted into the United States Army.

Instead of kissing his ass like everybody else in our misguided society, we'll use this boxing/military service reference to honor a real American hero.  Joe Louis volunteered to enlist in the Army on January 10, 1942.  Louis was eventually promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and was awarded the Legion of Merit for "incalculable contribution of the general morale."  Then President Ronald Reagan waived the eligibility rules for burial at Arlington National Cemetery, and Louis was buried there with full military honors on April 21, 1981.

The real "Champ".
