Today in Sports History

On April 5, 1984 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the Los Angeles Lakers became the all-time NBA regular season scoring leader when he broke Wilt Chamberlain's record of 31,419 points.  Sky Hook finished his career with 38,387 points.  The next closest active player is Shaquille O'Neal (5th) at 28,596 points, followed by Kobe Bryant (6th) at 27,705.  You have to go all the way to #20 to find the next active player, Kevin Garnett.  Keep in mind Abdul-Jabbar played all four years of college ball at UCLA, coming into the league at 22, as opposed to Kobe and KG racking up points from the ripe age of 18 until now.
